YELLOW BRICK ROAD MUSIC

I know that some of you aren’t on summer break yet, and you’re probably getting sick and tired of being reminded that others are. I’m sorry. You have my sympathy and admiration for continuing to run trudge toward that finish line. In honor of these teachers, I’d like to offer a list of June favorites that could go a long way in making the final weeks/days/hours more bearable.
Pilot Frixion Erasable Ink Pens

These. Pens. Are. Awesome. They actually do what they say, as opposed to the “erasable ink pens” I had in high school. We all know that was a lie. I think anyone who’s lived through the eighties can relate to the smearing of ink in an attempt to believe the advertisers’ claims. The erasable ink pens of the past were a disappointment, so I was thrilled that the Frixion pens lived up to the hype. I got the 0.4mm ink pens, but if I were to order them again (which I probably will), I’ll get some with a broader tip. The really fine tips that I have make the lighter colors, such as green, difficult to see.

I love using the pens in my planner. I also have a set of erasable markers, which work just as well, but I haven’t been using them as much as the pens.

An added bonus is that the pens fit perfectly in my pen holder. You can see the eraser tip in the picture below. It never wears down since it erases through friction, so there’s no need to purchase a separate eraser.
Washi Tape

This trend is still strong with me. This list of 100 Ways to Washi could keep me busy all summer long. And this music-inspired washi tape, would make great pencil toppers for your students next year. I tried it on one of my pencils with the washi tape I had on hand (bicycle-themed) and snipped the ends to make a little flag. It was easy to do and would be a fun way to recognize hard-working students in your class.

Iced Coffee

Really, any kind of iced coffee will do. I used to make my own using this recipe, but I’m lazy when it comes to food and drink, so I’m a sucker for the instant gratification of the pre-made kind. The Starbucks Iced Coffee Unsweetened is the best pre-made iced coffee I can find where I live (middle of nowhere). I found it in the dairy cooler at our local grocery store.

I like to fill a large glass and add a few tablespoons of International Delight French Vanilla creamer. If you have a favorite iced coffee recipe, please share it with me in the comments section. I’m always up for a new way to drink this liquid gold!

I’ll continue to gather up some of my go-to items this month for another favorites post in July. If you have any teachery/organizational items you think I should try out, please let me know in the comments section. They might end up in my next favorites post!

Thanks for reading,
Jennifer

P.S. As always, I’m not being paid in any way, shape, or form to write about these products. They just happen to be the items I’m loving right now 🙂

  1. OMG, erasable pens that actually work?!? Be still my heart… I'm so sad that I just bought a set of pens to replace my old colored ones that were running out… I must restrain myself!! I must… I must…

    1. Love that! You could even use it to label things on your desk, like the stapler, so that if you loan them out, you'll be sure they'll return to the music room 🙂

    1. Lol. I'm glad that others had the same reaction as me. I guess it makes sense, especially since we've been waiting for real erasable ink pens since the 80's 😉
